The City of Hugoton is led by a mayor-council form of government with the council consisting of five members elected to four-year terms. The mayor is also elected for a four-year term.
Appointed officials must be reappointed annually.
The governing body has regularly scheduled monthly meetings on the first Monday after the fourth day of each month at 5:15 p.m. The meetings are held in the council room located in the basement in the city office building at 631 South Main, Hugoton.
Community residents are welcome to attend the regular meetings of the council. Anyone wishing to be included on the agenda for a meeting should contact City Clerk Thomas G. Hicks at the City Office during normal business hours at 620-544-8531. Minutes from the monthly meetings are available to the public in print form at the City Clerk's office, or they can be accessed on this website.
